Renault Unveils New Logan for Russia

Posted image could be a rebadged version of Datsun GO sedan for Russia, but Renault says, it is the new sedan unveiled for the Russians. The car is still in the images, no actual unveiling or the launch ceremony happened yet. Confirming the details, it looks based on the BO platform of Renault, and is named as ‘Renault Logan’. The car making company of France may have also shared the same underpinning with the Nissan due to the sharing alliance signed between them. An inside source said, the car has taken a lot of cues from the Renault Symbol which is sold in North Africa, and also meets some of the tips from Renault’s low-cost Dacia brand cars.

The production of Renault Logan for Russia is said to happen at the Renault-Nissan and AVTOVAZ jointly-owned facility in Togliatti in Russia’s Samara region.

Confirming details, the Logan sedan sports large front grille with ample of chrome, where the fog lamps cluster also gets a chrome encircling. Interiors look not so complicated, but have kept simple in black and have been given toucscreen LED on the central console.

“The Togliatti facility, which will have a manufacturing capacity of 350,000 units per year at full ramp-up, will soon become home to one of the largest platform-sharing programs in the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The facility already produces the LADA Largus multi-purpose van and the Nissan Almera sedan. Later this year, another Renault model, as well as the first Datsun model for Russia, will be produced at the facility”, says the Renault official blog with regards to the new Logan.

Engine options are not yet announced. The existing model of same cadre is sold with 1.4-liter 75 hp engine, a 1.6-liter motor of 84 hp and a 16-valve version of that engine with 102 hp. The gearbox led to all of them is only a 5-speed manual. Apparently, the two least powerful motors could be replaced by the 1.2 16v with 75 hp and 0.9 TCe turbo with 90 hp.
