The Indian division of luxury car maker General Motors (GM) will launch the Chevrolet Spark facelift by the end of October, an intimate source at GM revealed.
General Motors India’s Chevrolet Spark facelift will feature some remarkable interior as well as exterior changes. The most noticeable outside changes include revamped front and rear bumpers, fog lamps, revised boot-lid, and aggressive grille with chrome borders. However the body panels of the new car still looks the same.
When it comes to interior, the new version of the Chevrolet Spark is almost the same as it is now, except a few changes that your will notice in the form of materials used.
The engine of the Chevrolet Spark facelift is the same as it is found in the existing version of the car. Like the existing Chevrolet Spark, the facelift version will also come equipped with 1.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol engine, which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, is capable of producing the maximum power of 63bhp and a peak torque of 90Nm.
GM is also offering the Chevrolet Spark in petrol-LPG dual fuel version. Power steering and air conditioning are the creature comforts offered on the top-end variants of the hatchback. But, the Chevrolet Spark facelift will have to face tough competition from the likes of the Alto 800, which delivers greater fuel efficiency than the Spark.
With all those changes, the Chevrolet Spark facelift is expected to do well during the imminent festive season.
It seems that General Motors India is in no mood to take any chances. They are trying very hard to grab a large chunk of the Indian market. The recent release of the Cruz upgrade and Captiva facelift has projected GM’s intention quite clearly in the market. The General Motors is also planning to replace the existing Aveo U-VA Hatch and Sedan with the new Sail Hatchback and Sedan, which expected to occur in the next few months. The next roll on the dice is the Chevrolet Spark facelift, which is said to be arriving most probably during the time of Diwali this year.
Although the new Spark will not be incorporating any big ticket changes, the exterior is believed to be inspired by the electric Spark that was showcased last year. The interior is also believed to be similar to that of the electric Spark with the same colour scheme. Company has also tweaked with the front grille to make it broader, giving it more of a Chevrolet family feel just like the Cruz and new Captiva.
The company has also tweaked the petrol engine to make it more fuel efficient and thus giving it a competitive edge over the other competitors in the same class. The current and existing Spark is powered by a 1.0 litre engine that delivers a mileage of 12 Kmpl in city conditions and 16 Kmpl on the highway. However, the mileage is quite lower than both of its competitors Alto and Eon. So, mileage can be considered as the most important part on which General Motor should concentrate.
Beside all this, Chevrolet is expected to reveal its much awaited MPV Chevrolet Enjoy which is expected to arrive in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.
