Porsche Macan launched in India for a starting price of Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Macan is available in two trims at present, Macan S diesel (priced at Rs 1 crore) and Macan Turbo petrol (priced at Rs 1.1 crore) both ex-showroom Delhi.
The compact SUV of Porsche is competed against the likes of Audi Q5, BMW X3 in India.
Macan S diesel underneath the hoods stores a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 245hp and 580 Nm of torque. It can reach 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and is electronically restricted to a top whack of 230 km/h.
Macan Turbo holds the breath with its 3.6-litre V6 petrol of 400hp and 550 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h can be achieved in just 4.8 seconds with the top-speed of 266 km/h.
Both the machines are paired to a 7-Speed Porsche PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel returns fuel-efficiency of 6.9 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 182 g/km, where the petrol motor does 8.9 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions fares at 208 g/km.
Porsche Macan will be imported in India in the form of CBU (completely built up-units) manufactured at Leipzig plant in Germany.
Porsche Macan for Indian market will come loaded with standard features like ride height adjustable air suspension system, all-wheel-drive, interior lighting package, bi-xenon headlamps, electrically operated tailgate and 3-Zone automatic climate control.
To be a bit specific, Porsche had derived Macan from the Indonesian word of tiger.
Porsche Macan hadn’t been released to the markets of world in abundant numbers, where a recall seemed to be awaiting for it at a near future.
Porsche is doubted Macan to have went a manufacturing error.
Discussing it in detail, it was noted the brake booster of some units may be defected while manufacturing, a routine check revealed some of the units are found having so.
Hopefully, Porsche is about to call back the thousands of Macan to the service bay for checking the possibility of fault. Hence, it cannot be called as a ‘recall’ because any damaged vehicles are still claimed to be in compliance with federal safety guidelines.
Under the bonnet, Macan is borne by a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 340 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque for the standard S variant, whereas the 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged mill with 400 horses and 406 lb-ft of torque is discovered for Turbo variant.
At the behest of reaching dealerships and customers’ garage, Porsche had already dispatched the 2,500 units of luxury SUV, out of which some are at the dealerships and some may have reached in the hands of customers.
Porsche Macan, the name Macan derived from the Indonesian word for Tiger, is now bound to invade India by June 2014. The Macan of Porsche is the compact SUV made by Porsche on the Audi Q5 platform. Despite being so compact in size, the Macan will not arrive with pocket a friendly tag in India, uttered the sources.
Two variants of Macan namely Turbo and Diesel will be launched. Powering to the Macan Turbo comes from a 3.6-litre biturbo petrol engine delivering 405PS and 550Nm of torque. The diesel version will be sourced from the Cayenne and Panamera – the 3.0L diesel mill producing 262PS and 580Nm of torque. Both of them will use the PDK transmission, varied upon the engine specification, the Turbo is found capable to reach 0-100kmph in the time frame of 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 266kmph. The diesel too doesn’t disappoint either; the 0-100kmph drag comes up in 6.3 second with the top whack of 230kmph. Both the cars will have all-wheel drive system. And they are to be brought in India through CBU (completely built up) route only. The Macan is in high demand, across the globe, and the facility at Leipzig in Germany is running in full force (with annual capacity of producing 50,000 units) to deliver the bookings on time.
Though, if it will be launched in India, the number of Macan would be limited during the initial stage for the Indian market, and the high pricing will not barred it from getting sold out.
The competitions that Macan draws for Indian market are against the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Range Rover Evoque.
Porsche, isn’t a Porsche without added chronicle, the features like Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Wheels and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) are engulfed on the Macan to give its owner a unique experience with convergence of sports in the lap of luxury.
Porsche Macan is out, and the brand just wanted to upkeep the fizz alive. For this simple purpose the German carmaker has released a video, which we have posted down this blog, to luster the launch of its crossover at a near future.
However, the market is responding righteously to the Q5 rival of Porsche. Adding a new flake to it will do no harm at all, that’s what the Stuttgart carmaker hope so from this clipping.
Macan is learnt to be built in Leipzig, Germany, from the bits of components to final product. Hopefully, the Porsche’s Leipzig manufacturing bay is now made capable of producing 50,000 units per year after being pumped with the half a billion Euro investment.
The manufacturing bay seems to be most interesting sight to see Porsche being produced; while we loved the final product Macan most, running breathtakingly on the tracks after production!
Porsche revealed Macan at 2013 LA Motor Show and rolled it out in the options of ‘S’ a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo pumping 335bhp and ‘Turbo’ of 3.6-litre V6 twin-turbo of 394bhp. The baby Porsche SUV has now appeared in an official video of the company, which we wasted no time in bringing the clip to our blog.
However, that same Blue colored Porsche Macan has appeared in the clipping which was debuted at the show. We bet that this blue paint on the new Porsche is going to be the official color of Macan.
Porsche Macan used Audi Q5 platform underneath and aims to target the customers of going compact but in ultimate luxury. Not taking much of the time, one can scroll down to view the video.
Psst…a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel is also there in the making. So not be disappointed the diesel users, Porsche will have something for everyone soon.
Porsche compact SUV Macan slated to uncover itself at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show. But before the official unveiling could happen, it is been spied umpteen number of time, and most of the time it has appeared without much camouflage. However, this time the spies manage to take the most beautiful shot of it at the Nürburgring in Germany. Hopefully, we are compelled to say the latest set of spy-shots is the best one till date, and this time almost none of the camouflage can be witnessed on it.
Overall outlook of the Macan reclines it to be a more of a Cayenne’s miniature model, and less of a fresh desk work. Despite that, we love the Cayenne very much, and so its miniature seems no exception at all.
Macan uses Audi Q5 platform underneath, and is expected to do with the 4 and 6 cylinder engines in petrol as well as diesel trim. However, this time the Turbo and S model of Porsche for its compact SUV will be concluded with 3-liter V6 biturbo instead of some 4.8L V8 and all.
The recently announced 300PS V6 of Panamera will also be found lugging this compact SUV of Porsche.

Suppressed with ample of dose on Porsche Macan – the compact SUV/crossover sibling of Cayenne, it is now officially confirmed that same is going to get the box crowded at upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show.
This news came as a relief to all of us, which specifies the date as 20th November i.e. first day of the Motor Show to be the D-day for the Macan.
The official word that was delivered today to most of the media houses had completely ruled out the rumor of Macan going to debut at Frankfurt Motor Show, which was slated to be held during September.
However, it is not clear why the carmaker is moving out of the home-country to dwell its one of the most aspiring product on the land of US first, leaving behind the early option of Frankfurt too. It may the sales of Cayenne in North America that had pulled this Germans to make its show there, but the growing popularity of LA is also one of the reasons to gain biggies like Porsche and other such on its board. Chevrolet, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru and Volkswagen are eyeing crevices to tap the opportunity at the city of West Coast.
Meanwhile, one can view the previous stories of spy shots that say how the Macan had managed to peak on this point.
Despite being a performance carmaker, Porsche’s sole decision of building luxury SUVs is now reaping fruits for the brand, which the compact SUV is a next step for the carmaker in the trending arena.
Not any of the false claims, one of the recent official reports of Porsche had reported about Macan going into production by December, but before that the undisguised spy shots had revealed a lot about the upcoming compact SUV.
Caught with the mere amount of camouflage, Macan is seen flashing same aura to that of the elder sibling Cayenne.
Tail lights and headlights are of the ultimate Porsche standard. And when seen carefully, there are two of the models in the spy shots; one is the Turbo version with two strips of daylights under the headlamps, while the other one is the standard one with single strip of LED on the front.
Based on the Audi Q5 platform, 2014 Porsche Macan will go on sale in early 2014 and will be offered with a variety of gasoline and diesel engines. In fact there are also chances that Porsche may roll out the hybrid version of same.

In the times of going compact and powerful, Porsche will prove a best option to drive out both of them on the roads, and that too in the most luxurious form ever. But the problem over here is the Porsche hadn’t got it right since these long past years, and now when they are finally testing the Macan (compact SUV), it seems the German carmaker wants to rave the same vehicle in astonishing speed and debut it as soon as possible.
Terming our post with the same aforementioned ideology, it is now revealed in the “official” statement of carmaker that they will start production of compact SUV by this December itself at Leipzig facility in Germany.
In fact, the aforementioned manufacturing facility is going under the addition of one more paint shop at the bay. Lending his views regarding the new paint shop, Porsche Executive Board Chairman Siegfried Bülow said, “This will complete the next major step in the preparatory stage of production of the Porsche Macan. The paint shop facilities have already been installed and the first car bodies will be painted in a test-operation as early as August. We are on schedule and are very keen to see the first car roll off the production-line in December.”
Disappointingly, there is no official statement on the debut. Yet, some of the Macan test mules had been spotted some days back, so the Los Angeles Motor Show later this year is expectedly suited to be the perfect platform for it.
