Since the announcement of the Jeep’s entry in the Indian market by Fiat has raised the heartbeat of several auto enthusiast. Out of the promising product line up for Indian market, Grand Cherokee is one of the most appealing and most popular Jeep products in the world. But the most interesting of the fact is that Jeep has revealed the mid-life extensive makeover for the Grand Cherokee WK2. And we are hopeful that India will be receiving the new updated version of the beast in the market.

The fact that the next third generation of Grand Cherokee is about three year away (2016), the midlife update is quite extensive. The changes starts just right from the front, headlight has taken a different shape and resembles Chrysler. The top variant of Grand Cherokee will be receiving the Bi-xenon lamps with the integrated dynamic cornering lights and integrated DRLs. The seven part grille has also received the treatment for scalpel. The fog lamps have been repositioned and now have received a new housing. The front bumper now houses bigger air scoops surrounded by chrome lining.

The use of LED in automobiles are rising these days and playing the same note, Cherokee has also received the same in its tail cluster. The interior has been blessed with tons of features. Rugged exterior and the Jeep luxurious interior is the most important aspect of the SUV. The new three spoke steering wheel with the paddle sniffers completes itself with a number of control switches; the 7inches display panel with gauge cluster, the .4 inches infotainment system and newly designed gear shifter are few of the major changes that the SUV has received.

However, the biggest attraction still remains under the hood. The SUV houses a 3.0 litre V6 EcoDiesel powertrain that deliver quite efficient economy of about 12 kmpl, quite decent with that engine size. It is probable that the vehicle could receive an Indian avatar of the current powertrain also. Along with this there are also few more petrol variants. The new eight speed automatic gearbox is mated with all these engines is said to be the main reason behind the impressive fuel economy.

It is quite interesting to note that the diesel engine appeared at the same time when Grand Cherokee is all set to make its Indian debut. The new facelift of the Grand Cherokee will help Jeep to make some difference in its sales figures. Fiat is not wanting to keep any end lose when it is trying to brand this new facelift as an effective comeback for the company.
