Ashok Leyland Witnesses 12% Drop in Sales for May, 2011

Ashok Leyland recently posted a decline in their profits for May, 2011. The company witnessed a decline in their overall sales of commercial vehicles by 11.95%, selling around 5,725 models last month, in comparison to those sold in the corresponding period, last year.

Ashok Leyland reportedly sold around 6,502 models in May, 2010. The company’s domestic sales in May, were around 5,082 models, in comparison to the 5,973 models sold in the corresponding period, last year, a decrease of 14.92%. The company however saw a rise in their exports, which increased from 529 models to 643 models in May, a growth of 21.55%.

The company saw a fall of 14.38% in their overall domestic sales of heavy and medium commercial vehicles, selling 5,043 models in comparison to the 5,890 models sold in the same period last year.
