Audi, one of the leading luxury automaker, registered a spectacular beginning of the year, with 2269 units sold in India during the period January 2012 to March 2012 – a remarkable growth of 41 per cent over the sales of 1611 cars during the period Jan to Mar 2011. Streaming forth with its optimism for 2012, the German automaker continued its steep rise in sales of 1002 units in March 2012 – a rise of 47 percent over the 681 units of March 2011; while its marginally above Audi India’s annual sales figure of 2008 (1050 cars).

“Our spectacular sales performance in the first quarter of the current calendar testifies the positive customer feedback to progressive design, top-notch services and a phenomenal growth of dealership networks.  We further amplify our dealership network in the country with the launch of a new Audi luxury showroom in Nagpur last week and have ideas for further developments regarding this factor in the current calendar. We also launched a high performance sports Coupe Audi TT last month, and it has received a spectacular response from customers all over India. Our business luxury limousine, Audi A6 and the Audi A4 have a significant role in the remarkable sales figure. Looking at current scenario, we’re certain that the year 2012 is going to be Audi’s most successful year in India to date and I am pretty sure that we will strive and continue to come up to the mark for the needs and demands of the young and aspiring Indian luxury car buyer”, said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

Audi R8

Audi continues to register the fastest growth in the luxury car segment in India. The German auto-giant is dominating the market in the sports car segment with its R8, RS5 and recently launched TT, while in the luxury SUV segment in India its lineup is featured by Q5 and Q7. Audi also has the Q3 in its 2012 lineup of luxury SUVs in India.

“From experience of our twenty-one years of dominance in China market, our strategy of building a strong brand, a high quality network and a strong product portfolio is paying its dividend also in India.” added Mr. Perschke.

The German brand with four rings will continue expanding its foothold into markets like Coimbatore and Lucknow this year, while further maintaining the dominance over markets like Mumbai and Delhi.  More dealerships will be announced in these locations shortly.

The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5,  Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi TT, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Pune and Surat. Further developments include Coimbatore, Delhi West, Lucknow and Mumbai South.
