Ford India’s Amateur Photo Contest is a Hit with Fiesta Fans

The Amateur Photo contest held by Ford India recently ended in New Delhi at the Fiesta Café, last week. The contest had a cash price of Rs.2,00,000 lakhs. For those who are unfamiliar, the Fiesta Café is the same place where the new Fiesta sedan was unveiled in India. This café is now a centre of Ford activities designed to create interest among its Indian customers.

Last week, Ford India announced the winner of their ”All-new Ford Fiesta Photography Contest’ at the Select Citywalk mall, at their Fiesta Café, which drew a large number of participants. The event was open to amateur photographers in India. Participants had to take a picture of their new Fiesta, present in the Café.

This café is a high-tech hub which connects to urban and young new generation achievers of India, who are the primary target of Ford with their new Fiesta model. This new car is a premium B segment sedan, which was unveiled in April at the Café by Ford. This digital café has a unique display area which features interactive touch screens, iPads as well as a fanwall which is controlled by human gestures, to make it more appealing to today’s tech savvy generation.

The café will continue hosting more new events based on fashion and lifestyle as well as video-conferences with Ford tech experts. The Ford photography contest began accepting entries from participants from May 7-15, from whom 12 contestants were screened and then selected. The photos submitted by the participants were than uploaded on May 19, on Flickr.com.

These entries received a total of more than 360,000 views in seven days alone. Visitors viewed and then voted for the best photos. The entries were judged by editor of Better Photography magazine, Madhavan Pillai, along with Ford’s senior executives, to choose the final winner. The final winner took home a cash prize of Rs.2,00,000.

However, the other contestants didn’t go back empty handed. All of the contestants were given an SDHC 32GB memory card for participating in the event, making it worthwhile for them. The Flickr.com determined top 10 photographs can be viewed at Fiesta Café.

Gaurav Chauhan, a graduate in Mass Communications from Punjab Tech University, who was one of the winners, said that he was very thrilled that his entry was judged as the best. The amazing Kinetic Design of the Fiesta, with its aggressive grille and flowing lines were his inspiration behind his photo. The flowing stylish lines of the car give it the feel of a sprinter.

Since its inception, the Ford Digital Café is a centre of activities. Apart from the media and Fiesta fans, many auto enthusiasts and bloggers visited the café for a glimpse of the new model from Ford. Ford also arranged an event aptly named ‘Toys for Big Boys’, which was an interactive session for fans to connect with a Ford tech expert.

Ford India’s Consumer Marketing VP, Anurag Mehrotra, who awarded the winners of the contest, said that like their new premium Fiesta sedan, they want the whole Digital Café to a place where their customers can engage via technology, which has been proved by the photo contests popularity. He also added that he hopes the new best in class features of the Ford Fiesta, like cruise control, a voice controlled interface, and fuel efficiency will make it endearing to their Indian customers.
