Ford to introduce more small cars on the global platform with India

Mr. Alan Mulally, Chief Executive Officer and President at Ford Motor Company said that it is a respected figure in the automobile and is credited with scripting the company turnaround story in 2007-2008, ex-Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chief Executive Officer helped the once bleeding automobile manufacturing company return to profitability. He also stated that why the One Ford platform plan and markets like India is quite significant for the future success of Ford and also for the industry. Once you look at the needs for car size all over the world, around sixty percent are for B and C, smaller size, 15% is for bigger vehicles and 25% is medium size. The United States prefers larger cars like pickup trucks due to the American lifestyle. The C and B categories are going to be majority of vehicles.

Nearly 20% will be customized as per the requirements of the consumer and the cars, which will be designed and engineered the same way around the world, providing the Ford a scale with their suppliers so that they can provide these models with impressive, high tech features with shoppers want at more affordable price. Speaking about crisis in Europe and slowdown in world economy, he said that they see approximately 5% compounded annual growth in automotive sales all over the world going forward. At Ford, they are positioned with their investments for accelerating their growth in emerging markets. United States is the marvelous market relatively flat growth now, but still huge at 150K cars. Economic growth all over the world is also significant for all of us. With monetary and fiscal policy in place, the economy is getting bigger, although at comparatively lower rate.

Ford India was founded in the year 1995 and is the completely owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, the international automotive industry leader. Ford India distributes and manufactures engines and automobiles developed at its contemporary incorporated manufacturing plants situated at Maraimalai Nagar, Chennai. Its models include Fiesta, Figo and Endeavour. The operations of Ford in India also include Global Business Services offering business services in regions of accounting and finance, IT, global analytics, engineering services and automotive operations and financial services support. These operations serve the company’s skill teams and business units internationally out of centres in Coimbatore and Chennai. Its businesses in India boast 10,000 strong workforce.
