GM is reportedly contemplating bringing the Opel back to. The possible buyers for the model are likely to be either Volkswagen or Chinese car manufacturers. Both Volkswagen and Opel have however declined to give any comments.
Back in 2009, GM had dropped its plans to produce the Opel following months of negotiations for selling it. The company then embarked upon drastic restructuring for getting the unit back on to tract after it lost around $1.6bn in 2010. The Opel work council stated that the reports are pure speculation. They also demand a denial from GM, their parent company.
The work council head, Klaus Franz said that GM has held on to Opel so far, as they might lose its technology along with other good reasons.
