When the whole world is on verge of shining, then India doesn’t tend to stay back and see, while we have also given many doctors and engineers to the world, and now days seems that automotive horizon too will see many of us in the near future, excluding Tata, as it is already a giant with worlds niche brands like JLR and other such in its personal den. Lest of that knowledge, it is to inform you that, some students at the Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, had developed a Formula1 car and are also expecting to enter international level competition followed by a national championship at present.

After surpassing the rigorous inspection by SAE and Maruti Suzuki officials, it had entered National Competition- for the title SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car, going to be held at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida. Officials of this competition had seen a total of 148 institutions across country out of which they have shortlisted only 65 such examples. Meanwhile, IR-12 stands proudly amongst the top 30 of our country where it has also finds itself compatible in the given criteria of being budgeted under Rs. 10,00,000.

Clearing more of the clods for future, Rahul Jagwani & Awanish Partap Singh, both final year students of M Tech (Mech Engg), LPU said, “After basking in the success of national IR-12, our team of 22 students is now geared up to develop International level racing car IR-13 to participate in Nebraska Lincoln championship (USA). Our team has already been selected by the F1 championship which is scheduled to be held this year in June. As cars used in F1 championships are quite different from usual cars, we are working towards adding a diagnostic system to it so that faults, if any, may automatically is get detected on screen.”

In addition to all those tweaks we got to know, kinetic energy reservation system (KERS) is also being deployed on the present invention and will prove useful for storing wasted energy, when brakes applied, and hence the same can be utilized for acceleration.
