Mahindra’s Quanto to hit the Italian market

Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) Qaunto is ready to hit the Italian market by 2012 end.

Mahindra & Mahindra had signaledpreviously that it decided to sell this sports utility vehicle (SUV) to nations in Europe and Latin America.

Mr. Pravin Shah, chief executive (automotive), M&M stated that by the coming4 to 5 month period, they are making plans to begin exports of the popular Qaunto to the European and Italian market.

Mr. Shah said that Italy is said to be the first destination. The XUV 500 was launched in the city of Rome on September 24 and will go on sale as Mahindra XUV in Italy. This would be accompanied by the new vehicle, Quanto.

Mr. Shah added that Mahindra & Mahindra has bagged positive response for the newly introduced Quanto, which has got 3,200 bookings since its launch during the third week of the last month.

But, Mr. Shah did not wish to remark on the opening export volumes, but stated that for starters the company proposes to manufacture 2,500 Quantos at the Nashik plant on a monthly basis.

Mahindra & Mahindra has kept provisions for constructing 7,000 units of the Xylo and the Quanto joint every month at the said plant that can be fine tuned as per market demand.

As per industry experts, the company proposes to place the Quantoin opposition to Renault’s Duster in the European market that sellsbeneath the brand name of Dacia in EU.

He explicated, “We are eager to endorse the Mahindra brand in the abroad market zones and all our vehicles are named as Mahindra items. Only, the Scorpio has been launched under the name of Mahindra Goa in the European market as there is an already subsisting Ford model by that name.”
