Seems Maruti is on an upswing. After launching their much awaited S-Cross crossover barely two days back, the company has now hinted at the introduction of a new SUV within this fiscal itself. And if rumours are to be believed, then Maruti will probably lift the curtains off the new SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Not much is known about this new SUV, the rumor mills are already buzzing with the fact that it will be based on the Suzuki Vitara to make it rugged and tough. It is being said that the new SUV will be compact and will be in the sub four meter category to benefit from excise duty cuts. It will have aggressive styling elements incorporated to make it look bigger.
Till now, Maruti Suzuki does not have a compact SUV in its lineup in India. So if this upcoming SUV goes into production, it will mark Maruti’s entry in this segment as well. It is also a possibility that this SUV might be sold through Maruti’s NEXA chain of premium outlets, unless of course, Maruti decides to give its competitors a nightmare.
