Maruti Kizashi in India to be launched on 2nd February

It’s an all-out war in all the segments of the Indian market to emerge as the leader in the lucrative and ever-expanding passenger car segment. Who will reign supreme, is the question only time will answer. But as of now Maruti Suzuki India has upped the ante by announcing to launch it latest luxury sedan called the Kizashi, on February 2nd 2011.

According to excerpts from a report, the new Maruti Kizashi will be a manufactured in Suzuki’s plant, in their home country Japan, and will be imported as a whole. Maruti Suzuki India is planning to position their new baby somewhere between the class of Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta at lower end and the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord at the upper end. All these cars fall within the range of Rs12-Rs20 lakhs. Maruti is optimistic about the growth of A4 and A5 segments of the market.

Interesting drama will unveil in the run up to its launch, experts and pundits will work over-time to ascertain the infallibility of the market leader in small car segment. A recent report has plotted the market share of Maruti Suzuki India at 50 percent of the humongous Indian car market, which stood at the dwarfing 1.87 million units in the last year. According to some reports doing the rounds, the A4 and A5 segment  is billed at over 55,000 units per year and Maruti does not want to be left behind.

The company also left the possibility, of manufacturing Kizashi in India in the future, open. But it desisted on providing a time-frame to it.

The Maruti Suzuki Kizashi in India is mulled to sport a 2.4 liter petrol engine and will be offered in both the automatic and manual transmission options.

Maruti Suzuki India has been trying to lap up a bigger chunk of the big car segment for quite some time but has been relatively less successful, Baleno being its first offering of this kind bombed at the market place; however the recent success of the mid-sized sedan the SX4 has made a mark in 2007.
