New Tata Indica EV2 finally launched

Tata Motors have finally unveiled the BS4 compliant variant of its old work horse, the Tata Indica. We had earlier covered the news about its imminent launch here on Indiandrives (https://www.indiandrives.com/new-tata-indica-bs4-to-be-launched-soon.html). This version of the Tata Indica is said to be the most powerful diesel variant ever offered for the Indica diesel. Moreover, it is said to give a fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl, the highest claimed by any manufacturer in India.

The new Tata Indica variant is called the Tata Indica EV2 and is been offered both in petrol and diesel engine options. In addition to complying with the BS4 emission norms, the diesel engine boasts of a peak power output of 69 Bhp whereas its peak torque figure is rated at 14.28 kgm. The gear ratios have been also altered to increase the driveability quotient. Moreover, weight reduction has been brought about in the 2011 Tata Indica EV2 by about 10 kgs. On the exterior, the car looks like its other BS3 variant but peer closely and you would notice the fog lamps at the rear end in addition to the front ones, new 14 inch alloy wheels, new rear bumper, attractive decals and new tail lamps.

In the interiors, the car gets beige upholstery and the top of the line variant boasting of wooden inserts in the cabin. Moreover there are now power goodies, USB port, Bluetooth enabled music system, keyless entry and 60:40 split rear seating arrangement. On the safety front, it has got two air bags and a collapsible steering wheel. As always, Tata Motors are the masters in pricing their products competitively and the base diesel variant of the Indica starts at Rs 3.95 lakhs whereas the top of the line variant is available for Rs 4.77 lakhs. The petrol on the other hand starts from Rs 2.96 lakhs and shoots up to Rs 3.56 lakhs for the top variant. All these prices are ex-show room, Mumbai.

    I would like to know why Tata Indigo Marina has not become popular. I consider this car as a good utility car for family especially who are touring a lot. Please comment.

      I totally agree with Mr. Sunil Kumar`s view. Indigo Marina have sufficient boot space to go on vacation along with entire family comfortably.
