Ratan Tata resigns from Board of Directors of Fiat SpA

The epitome of Entrepreneurship, Ratan Tata  has resigned from the board of Fiat SpA, the Italian auto Giant. Ratan Tata is currently the chairman of Tata Group, one of the largest MNCs of India. He served fiat spa for about 6 years as one of the independent directors of the company. He joined the company on the proposal of Agnelli family who had the control over IFL then. IFL had about 30 percent stake in Fiat SpA . The only Indian to serve in the Board of Fiat is Ratan Tata.

As stated by Tata Spokesperson in an e-mail, Ratan Tata stepped down to reduce his engagements. Apart from these two companies, he is associated with many different organizations across the globe. He is connected a chairman with the government of India’s investment commission and is also a member of prime minister’s council on Trade and Industry. Tata is also contributing with his ideas into the companies like National Hydrogen Energy and the national Manufacturing Competitiveness Council.

Ratan Tata has got various honors throughout the globe for his contribution to the new and latest technologies, for his innovative ideas for the industry and for his social ventures. In 2000, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan award by the Government of India and in 2008 he was given Padma Vibhusan. He was given the Doctorate in Business Administration by the Ohio State University and University of Warwick has honored him with Doctorate Degree in Science.
