Renault to unveil its Duster SUV on 6th JanuaryRenault India unveiled its Renault Pulse for the first time before the start of the Formula I race held at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. This Renault Pulse can however be considered a rebadged version of the Nissan Micra. This is because both these cars are making use of the common V platform, which has resulted in the car fascia getting a lot of changes. The car is going to retain it’s fully diesel K9K Micra engine that is going to have the capacity to deliver maximum power of 69Bhp and a peak torque of 160Nm. The Renault Pulse will be produced locally at the Oragadam plant of the manufacturer in Chennai. This is the same plant in which Renault India and Nissan jointly develop their cars.

Renault Pulse in IndiaThe Renault Duster is going to follow in the same lines of the Pulse and is going for a more localized production. It is also going to be produced at the Oragadam plant of Renault. It is expected that the Duster SUV will make use of the same platform that had been used by the erstwhile Renault Logan and this explains the strong similarities that these two sedans have. The Renault Duster is being offered in both diesel and petrol variants. It is being expected that Renault is going to make use of a 1.6L petrol engine that will offer a peak power of 106PS. For its diesel variant, the car maker is going for the 1.5L K9K engine from Nissan, which is going to be offered with different power outputs. According to the tuning of the engine, it will have the capacity of delivering peak power in the range of 91PS to 108PS. The Renault Duster is expected to strongly compete with the Ford EcoSport in its segment. It is expected that the car is going to be priced between Rs.7 Lacs and Rs.10 Lacs, when it is going to be launched in the Indian market. However, it does not seem likely that the launch is going to take place any time before the middle of 2012.
