One of the major issues that carmakers face today is car safety and with more and more NGOs stepping up the heat on manufacturers to meet global safety standards, carmakers have little choice but to oblige. One of the biggest automobile manufacturers in India, Maruti Suzuki, has gauged this reaction and has launched two new editions of the Ciaz sedan, which comes packed with safety features over and above present models.

According to the Maruti management, the offer of extra safety equipment is one that would encourage buyers to buy better and safer cars and at the same time there would be no compromise in terms of features either as the cars would have ABS, dual airbags and other safety characteristics in addition to all the base features as well.

The Vxi (O) and the Vdi (O), as the variants are called, will have seat belt reminders, pretensioners as well as force limiters making driving much safer and there also be a buzzer for the driver’s side. This is in addition to dual airbags for the front passenger and driver as well as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The Vxi (O) and the Vdi (O) have been priced at Rs.7.31 lakhs and Rs.8.23 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).

This is a great step towards enhanced car safety by Maruti and its success will see many other manufacturers also following suit. Maruti has always been one of the leading innovators in the automobile field in India and it has led the way this time again with the launch of the Ciaz O variant.
