2014 Fiat Linea Facelift Test Drive and Review: 1.3L Multijet Diesel

Despite being very Italian in nature, Fiat still find its cars struggle hard to sell in numbers against the Maruti and Hyundai in India. Fiat sells a lot of its 1.3L Multijet diesel engine to various brands, that it seems almost every diesel car running in India are being deployed with the same. Selling that same Linea since 2009, a round of applause must be raised for Fiat for not carving out significant change during those past five years. Available in three engine options, 89bhp naturally aspirated 1.4L petrol, 112bhp 1.4L turbo-petrol (T-Jet) and the very favourite 1.3L Multijet diesel of 92bhp; turning down the petrol versions, we asked Fiat to send us a 1.3L Multijet diesel powered new 2014 Linea facelift for a test drive. And mentioned here are the first hand details we drawn on it when laid our hands on a one fine day.

On the front, it is a very much sophisticated and very Italian car on every bit. It got all the boxes ticked right by deploying chrome stark everywhere. The front grille received dual slats in chrome, while on the downside fog lamps and that whole lip spoiler, inclusive of air dam, from one end to another is done with that metal-kind shinning flair. The bottle holder and mid-size door pockets are of great utility for front row too. The knee room wasn’t that generous to the tall person like me. Meanwhile, on the rear, the seats were bolstered with great comfort. Leg room and thigh support find interests with short-heighted, instead of the long ones. Central armrest with cup holders completes the pinnacle. The rear AC vents doesn’t seem making an exception to the ongoing trend. Needed not to forget, the door panels were carried over but the quality feels better. The last and the least not-so-liked feature of the 2014 Linea inside cabin remain the regular ‘power-windows’. They are not anti-pinch, so children on the drive shall be taken care of while rolling the windows up. The top end variant also gets a sun-down cover for rear wind-shield.

On rear bench, there too are number of cosmetic changes. Major one is the change in number plate fixture. Earlier it was marked on the bumper, now shifted to the boot lid. The rear bumpers inclusive of front bumpers are revamped. With that minute tweaking Fiat managed to slap a one more chrome strip on the rear bumper, in addition to the side chrome skirts, for an additional price-value proposition factor. The boot lid too gets a complete makeover. The boldly encrypted LINEA over number plate enclosure is found making more promises than the brand itself. On the safety front, the Linea isn’t a safety-vault cocooned car, but it has enough of it to delight an average Joe. ABS with EBD, passenger and driver airbag, reverse parking sensor, and more importantly the safety-belt alarm are the ones to be named in the list.

Drive and handling experience remains tried and tested of Linea throughout the time for 1.3L Multijet. Though, already the brand made no changes in the drivetrain, so hitting the mark and attending the curve walks in through that same old road-sticky manner. There is a turbo lag till 2000rpm, but even after that the boost doesn’t comes out as what it is been expected of. Steering gives a bulky feel, but the good old good suspension eases up bumps-jumps. The potholed-filled tarmacs don’t bother either, because the ground clearance is also notched to 190mm. So, if by mistake u hit a speed-breaker at the speed of 45kmph, like what we had done accidentally, it would only grace a hitch and not the screeched or dents. Rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps appear of an important aide, while the top player in the list remains that “Cruise Control”, which is the first in segment. 2014 Linea facelift is done with front discs and rear drum, except the one variant T-Jet that gets discs on all four. We tried to hit all the best on it, but couldn’t find it manageable to drift it on roads, due to lack of power despite bestowed with the Turbo. But when rolled it out on the dirt, drifting was a child’s play. Now seriously, the city driving made keep shifting between the cogs, so to upkeep with the inner roads one needs to keep his temper control in composition with the gearbox. Even the open-stretches and highways feels to be better outdone by others, because of the lack of sixth gear; if added would have pumped in better power and improved fuel-economy.

Conclusion:

Overall, the 2014 Fiat Linea is a good product for the money value. Oodles of chrome, much integrated sophistication, end number of features and Italian style on every deigned cue are the things to talk about. Hence, the turbo lag is making it to stay behind the rivals, but an added feature of Cruise Control manages to sail it swiftly. Modern technicalities and a good music system with all the needful embellished, this car doesn’t needs an additional attention after the showroom. All is done and said, the 2014 Linea is a good job and the carmaker had changed the world of its sedan at a very minimal cost. We love Italians because of their outstanding design than others, which make them to stand separate even in the crowd of a thousand. One of the many perks of this job is, not surprisingly, the cars. That’s exactly how I found myself dressed to the nines and behind the wheel of the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe, a INR1.75 crore rocket ship, en route to a rare multi-wedding weekend to celebrate with two pairs of my closest friends on the biggest day of their lives. Continuing with our nuptial theme, the M mechanicals and 6 Series Gran Coupe body are a match made in heaven. The M6 could be just what the doctor ordered! This sleeker 4-door is outrageously fast and fabulously luxurious, and it’s a delight to drive on most roads.

Datsun GO Review and Test Drive

Datsun, the cost-effective brand launched by Nissan, has the first product on its launchpad “GO”. The aspiration range in gigantic numbers for the carmaker, and we are invited to find out that does it seems enough to give a tough and gutting competition to the India’s most selling and one of the top three best sellers Maruti Alto? Hopefully, the test drive session was called in the city of Hyderabad, and we found out what the engineers from Japan have clocked beneath its simple yet appealing looks. Exteriors:

On the first look, Datsun GO dons simple yet basic attire. The car that was given to us was of light blue paint shade, the one that the brand is seen marketing through, which also seems to be its flagship shade. So its first impression to it was quite soothing to our eyes. It was the paintjob that we were expecting to have on our platter for the tests too. The D-shaped front grille, flanked back headlamps and three air intakes on the front panel guts us to be revealing some more interesting ferns throughout the body. Connecticut, the sides also has gone through crispy creases, which the other cars in the segment may not have parched through. Overall, the aerodynamics ranging from the headlights adjoining to the Datsun logo on bootlid is impressive from a car of this category.

Interiors:

On inside, the first and the most remarkable tip that was noticed by us was the bench-type front seat. It reminded us of those good old Fiat and Ambassador days; but sitting on the driver’s seat was worth having an experience. Starting from the dashboard, it is compiled of three different colors, and three spoke steering wheel, which everywhere is been donned with the plastic. The grain quality feels of average quality – not too high or too low. The second fact that will grab the attention after the seat is ‘gearbox and hand-brake’. The gear and hand-brake sticks are clustered in the dashboard, and is the only sort to have paved way for the single-platted seat of more convenience. When asked about having such sort of seat, the carmaker replied to have been designed it keeping in mind the utility factor, which can be used for keeping maps and other objects during the drive, rather than placing them on the floor or elsewhere. The leg and shoulder room inside are the class-leading due to the extensive wheelbase of 2,450mm.

The boot space even is consisted of 297 liters, which is groped subtle with nicely pierced in depth. Luggage will not be problem for the family of four. And in the last, the Nissan’s sub-brand had also pleased us by placing the bottle holders in front doors, of 1.5L each, which feels of great utility after a long tiring drive. We believe, that’s enough of the aesthetic gimmicks, shall now move towards the technical ones, with the driving experience.

Ride and Handling:

Likewise its cosmetic fronts, with no disappointing feedback, the ride and handling too remain outstanding. Firstly, the car feels impressively high from the ground, when taken the charge of driving seat. And after the ignition process, that is while moving out of the parking lot, it felicitated us with the smile on our faces. All because of the shorter turning radius and the first thumbs-up from a group of ladies who were probably the college goers, peered into our car’s front to get its cute glimpse and also a snapshot from their smartphones. The thumbs-up were then followed on our test too, with some from the bikers, and also a one from an Alto owner. Talking its technical aspirations, all of them were drawn from the three cylinder 1198cc petrol engine producing 68PS @5000rpm in term with 104NM of torque @4000rpm. The top-speed that our odo clicked was the 165kmph, but some of other media friends had made to the 170kmph without a hick. Even the more power strokes were also meant to be experienced if the noises from underneath the floor wouldn’t have stopped us there. Hope so, those noises may be on the media trial vehicles only, which could be resolved in the showrooms one. The 120kmph can be attained like a child’s play. In the nearby tout, gearing distribution can also be held responsible for it, which was shorter in first two gears and longer in the latter two. So the city driving is lucrative, whereas the overtaking on highways may need a downshift depending upon driving conditions.

The suspensions were of subtle inputs. Bad roads to an extent lent us some unsettled bumps, but the regular tarmacs haven’t impacted the noise to leak. It remains undoubted the GO has a lot of body roll. But it can be handled upto an extent on its 13-inch wheels wrapped with the 155/70R13 tubeless tyres.

Conclusion:

The Datsun GO is altogether a winner on the hand, which is needed to be supplemented by the outstanding network of service and repairs. We believe, it is going t change to scenario for Maruti and others who were ruling the roost for many years. The fuel economy that ARAI has claimed is of 20.6kmpl, and so our mix-drive of city and highway made a progress of something near to 17-18kmpl, which is almost somewhere near to its rivals. But the charm that it seems to have retained with it is the low pricing of spare parts so as to encourage many of the first-time car buyers. Expected to be launched in the category of sub Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom) it has no rivals coming near to it in the vicinity of glazing accomplishments. And if proved successful, then the hatchback-derived A+ segment car of Datsun will definitely make way for the Nissan cars and also the MPV GO+. So guys, we say, don’t wait, GO and test drive once when it will be launched. It is worth doing that, trust us, especially the first-time car buyers.

Honda Mobilio Review – The Phenomenal MPV

Honda Mobilio is the third car to be designed and engineered on Brio platform, and marks the company’s entry into MPV segment in India. After the introduction at Indonesian Auto Show, the automaker invited a couple of journalists to Tokyo for examining the vehicle up close. The Indian car market has hit a bit of rough patch and most segments have been beleaguered with low customer response and dropping sales. The Japanese automaker had quite a distinct benefit when it planned to try its luck in the MPV category. The Honda Brio has been designed and engineered on such a platform that it can be ported to be used on MPV or saloon. The all-new Honda Mobilio was designed keeping Indonesia in mind, simply as it is a market, which adores multipurpose vehicles and the vehicles already thrive in the country.

Honda Mobilio was originally manufactured and launched by Japanese automaker for its domestic market, which took the company’s i-DSI engine and Global Small Platform. Honda is renowned for its amazing style and exemplary looks. Recently, the Amaze further enhanced its quality. While the company’s focus either designing an economical or a luxurious vehicle, it has been able to offer a perfect combination amongst these two in Mobilio. Like the Honda Amaze and Honda Brio, the all-new Honda Mobilio is based on the same platform. So basically, there’s nothing to hide as the other two vehicles are already known to everyone. Just like Amaze, its front is pretty much appealing with chrome bar placed between honeycomb grille and chrome furnished logo. In addition to this, there are rounded headlamps with turn signal indicators and foglamps with matte black finish.

Honda Mobilio’s rear end is quite simple and pretty much identical to that of Toyota Innova. The taillamps with small grille and turn indicators act like supplement to rear beauty. The Honda Mobilio will be available with two engine choices: DTEC 1.5 liter diesel and i-VTEC 1.5 liter petrol. Both powerplants will be teamed up with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine generates 116.3 horsepower @ 6600 rpm with 146 Newton meters of torque @ 4800 rpm, whereas the diesel engine churns out 98.6 horsepower @ 3600 rpm with 200 Newton meters of torque @ 1750 rpm.

Safety

Tata Nano ‘Twist’ is meant for churning out more numbers from the hat of Nano before it gets fizzed out. Major chunk of changes were experienced when doors were let open to us. Interiors were feeling special: the dual tone upholstery, slightly refined plastic grains, and lot of other minute bits here and with significant importance were noticed at a first glance. There weren’t seems many of the changes did in terms of spacing, which Tata was claiming so at the venue. The most remarkable frat we liked was the dual glove box placed on each side of the instrument cluster. And that too it opens at a touch, sounding sophisticated in its class. The endowment of driver information system is the first in its class, with to claim more powerful AC, Bluetooth featured music system and keyless entry appeared there name in the list of Nano Twist. It was also surprising to see the ‘Nano badge’ on the black colored floor mat, as pf for some special edition car. Other portions which were raised a class above were the aluminium pedals, cubby hole next to gear level, and flimsy door pockets. Two good quality music speakers were jagged at the rear, with proper inlays, for boozing the car with a good music dose.

Nissan Terrano Review

“Renault Duster” the word itself is a big bonk of the industry. Though, wherever it may have been launched in the world, the results were tamed to be outstanding in terms of sale-numbers. However, it has to be, because the title of “world’s cheapest SUV” along with it makes it to caption many of the loop-holes which most of the carmakers had left behind in the fraying context that they cannot be so down-trodden in the terms of pricing and the quality offered on board.

It is no doubt that Renault used to do the justice when it comes to the pricing against value-driven. But there was a question lying unattended in the industry which says, do anyone needs more of the upmarket feel in Duster by just paying a mere ounce of money? Well, it is still unattended, hopefully would be answered when the Nissan will launch its terrifying “Terrrano” in the market in order to gain the fanfare that it was eyeing since allied with the Renault years back. To an extent we hope, the unveiling ceremony of the car may have lend some light on what the game Nissan is ready to play. But (of course) the price is remained to conclude the most of it. One can read the review below to gain at least an idea of it what is stored there for many of us at a near future which may prove a blockbuster to the industry just like the Duster had did when it was launched.

At the unveiling ceremony, as it was carried out in the Film shooting studio, Nissan had did an outstanding job to conclude the first look of Terrano. There were three cars placed on the stage and three different sets were created to preview it. Hopefully, without any second thought we just loved the way it was staring to us from the platforms. Those bold headlights, a couple of crease on the bonnet and that massive aggressive stance all over, making it a “number” on the appearance. The front, it was inspired mostly by the layouts of all Nissan big bulky SUVs, namely X-Trail, Patrol and Pathfinder. The vertically chromed v-shaped logs on the grille, very unlikely to the couple of horizontal stance on the Duster, and the mesh type formation of grille on the back are making the Terrano to look aggressive in its best possible avatar. However, the overall looks of the front is not so similar to that of the Duster, but instead its gives in the quite upmarket feel to the vehicle more than what we had expected. Bumpers on front and rear are same to that of the French’s offering, but the first look of the front had eaten up all the efforts of Renault very ‘aggressively’.

Talking about the sides, is remained plain-Jane. Not any of the creases can be found on it. Meanwhile, the gun-finished alloys were tempting to fill up all the lacking very easily. No complaints from that viewpoint even, but we had some of them when we go looking at the third window of the SUV. It was almost similar to that of the Duster. No changes made there, and accompanying that in our drawback list are those bumpers too. They remained unchanged “a bit”.

 ‘Rear’, seems to be smacking so. The not so good and not even so bad response from all the viewers, we had drawn our views in the way as, tail lamps are a delight and razor sharp, but there is needed to be filled in something to oomph out the curves of the French sibling in the utmost. But not even that worst, we give the rear a plight more than ‘five out of ten’ markings for not disappointing us immensely. Well, we expect the Nissan must have sorted something about the ‘spare wheel’ conclusions at the rear, so that something we would have called it a lot different than Duster, but there still remains an opportunity for the Japanese carmaker to give a provision for this in near future. And, that third window must also be changed to square type of shape for suiting some of the spare wheel image when maybe given down at a near future.

Moving onto inside, the door handles gave us the confused feel. But however, we managed to move in and make us feel settled in the cabin there. No changes made to it in terms of ergonomics and others, but cosmetics had been revamped to follow that suit ‘a bit premium than Duster’ very strongly. Finally chrome strips seen on the AC vents and on the door nags, we were relived to feel that pampering performance of the designers at Nissan, clicked ‘fabulous job done’. More to the said suit, they had also given the car a heavy dose of beige which is complementing us, “yes the car is an upmarket in all its true sense.” Improved looks of dashboard is composed to serve the better prospective than the Renault, disappointingly we had to say, new steering wheel on Terrano was not having the music control. It was looking completely blank about such derivations of enhanced features despite being very new in its form. In addition to it, again the same up-stood AC vents on the floor of rear seating row, was disgusting even on the Duster too. Though it is not the functionality which is making us going nasty about it, but its habit of eating up the space for third person in second row cannot be entertained at all.

Contradicting to it, the competition will not be less when there it would come face-to-face with the technicalities. However, on the looks and cosmetics we approve 7/10 in the preview here.

Renault Scala CVT in India: Review

The Renault Scala is simply an up-market premium version of its cousin the Nissan Sunny. So if you like the Nissan Sunny and wished for a little more class and premium features like automatic transmission, you’ll definitely like the Renault Scala.

We had been hearing rumors of an automatic version of the Scala since 2012 and early this year, Renault finally launched two automatic petrol variants of the Scala- the Renault Scala RXL X-tronic CVT and the Renault Scala RXZ X-tronic CVT.

Now if you have a decent working knowledge about cars, you know that automatic transmission gives lesser mileage. This is why most folks prefer the manual gearbox version, since fuel prices are already sky-high. However, the most unique thing about the CVT versions of the Scala is that contrary to popular belief, these cars give BETTER fuel efficiency compared to their manual counterparts.

The X-tronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) technology enables the Renault Scala CVT to offer a net mileage of 17.97kmpl (according to ARAI test figures)- around  1kmpl more than that offered by the Scala manual.

Renault explained its move to offer an automatic variant of the Scala by saying that with the increasing number of cars on the road and the frequency of stop-and-go traffic, more and more Indians are taking to automatic transmission.

The Renault Scala CVT is powered by a powerful 1.5 L, 4-cylinder based XH2 petrol engine, which can displace 1498cc. This engine is mated with a smooth X-tronic CVT automatic gear box that also features multipoint fuel injection technology.

Performance

The Renault Scala CVT is a well-behaved sedan that is built to be driven around calmly and smoothly in city traffic. Needless to mention, the automatic gearbox has been provided mainly to reduce the irritation of constantly shifting gears in busy city traffic. This makes the Scala the perfect car for city commuters. However, if you’re thinking of stepping on the gas on the highways, the engine becomes a bit strained and noisy so it’s better not to try and push its limits. In fact, using maximum throttle won’t get you an immediate reaction as it takes the car a while to get to the higher speeds.

The 1.5-liter petrol engine along with the CVT automatic gearbox helps you get through city traffic while maintaining optimum fuel efficiency.

However, the CVT (which makes you pay around Rs. 60,000 more) gives you high driving efficiency. It maintains the engine rpm in the lower and efficient region of the power-band and each time you leave the throttle, the gearbox disconnects from the engine thus minimizing mechanical drag. According to the French automaker, the Scala CVT petrol variant delivers a mileage rating of 17.97kpl (according to ARAI) which is significantly better than the 16.97kpl mileage (according to ARAI) offered by Ford Fiesta’s DCT auto variant.

The Renault Scala has borrowed a lot of exterior features from the Nissan Sunny but the French automaker has done a little bit of work to make sure that the Scala appeals to the more premium customers. Some of these additions and improvements include the smoked-style large headlamps, the front bumper and grille which have been borrowed from the Renault Pulse, the tail lights which bear a resemblance to those in Skoda cars and door handles that bear a chrome finish. The 15-inch alloy wheels come as a default fitting on the Scala which really brighten up the wheels of the sedan.

Renault has added a significant amount of chrome to the exteriors which actually make the car look more upmarket compared to the Sunny.

However, there have not been any groundbreaking changes to the exterior of the Scala and it makes you wish that there was more to set the Scala apart from its cousin the Sunny.

Interiors

The interiors of the Scala are almost exactly the same as that of the Sunny. The all-gray look, which was passable on the Sunny as it’s a value-for-money car, doesn’t bode well with the premium tag of the Scala. Of course, the Renault logo on the steering wheel reassures you that it’s a Scala you’re sitting in and not a Sunny. Perhaps the only differences between the two cars are the leather seats and a new gear knob and leather seats. There are also some handy comfort features incorporated into the Scala, including keyless entry, a multi-functional smart key, an illuminated push-button start-stop function, a leather-covered power steering wheel featuring mounted controls for driver’s convenience and automatic climate control with air quality control.

While you do get a lot of leg-room, Renault has not been so generous with the rear-seat headroom and the under-thigh support. However, just like in the Sunny, the Scala offers you an enormous amount of boot space.

While the Scala is loaded with several comfort and performance features, Renault has also blessed the car with several advanced safety features. Some of these protective safety functions include dual front air bags for the driver and front seat passenger, antilock braking system with emergency brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, automatic door locks that sense current speed, child-proof rear door safety systems, an anti-pinch auto down driver’s window with one-touch up and down function and lastly, an engine immobilizer with a built-in anti theft alarm. These advanced safety and security features surely make this premium sedan a class apart and provides hefty competition to other cars in this segment.

After-sales service

Renault is offering 2+2 years or 80,000 kilometers warranty (whichever comes first) on the Scala, in addition to  3 labour servicing sessions provided at regular intervals. Moreover, the French carmaker is also offering 24/7 road side assistance on the Renault Scala which is another great feature of the after-sales service offered by the company.

Conclusion

The Renault Scala RXL X-tronic CVT comes with a price tag of Rs. 8,99,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) , while the Renault Scala RXZ X-tronic CVT is available at  Rs. 9,89,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

While the Renault Scala CVT is certainly going in the right direction, some of the features from the Sunny that have remained untouched (namely, the all-gray interiors and the basic dashboard and instrument cluster) dampen the premium feel of the car.

Also, with regard to performance, the Scala CVT will appeal to only a certain section of customers who would use the car for daily city commuting. As mentioned earlier, the Scala is definitely not meant for high-speed driving on the highway.

So keeping all these things in mind, we can safely conclude that the Renault Scala CVT does a decent job of what it is supposed to do, i.e. a premium sedan ideal for city commuting. However, it will not appeal to all types of consumers.

BMW X1 Facelift in India: Review

The BMW X1 facelift is a fresh take on the X1. BMW has carefully looked into and addressed the issues of the X1. The BMW X1 facelift has done away with the petrol option; it is now a Diesel-only SUV. The new BMW X1 facelift, as per its name, comes with a facelift, updated interiors, better equipment, and a more powerful (diesel) engine.

The BMW X1 facelift comes in three variants: BMW X1 sDrive20d (base variant), BMW X1 sDrive20d Sport Line and the BMW X1 sDrive20d xLine.

The base variant comprises of an on board computer, advanced climate control, fog lamps, electric wing mirrors, an audio system that supports Aux/USB/ CD and 17 inch alloy wheels.

The Sport Line variant has side skirt covers, kidney grille and air intake slats in high-gloss black. The trimmed exhaust finishers are in chrome black. All three variants now have interior and exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function. There is an updated set of tail lights as well. The side profile has not undergone a great change. It is the front profile that has been modified to give it a leaner, sleeker look.

The two-in-one scheme of the dashboard has been replaced with an all black theme, making for a more sophisticated appearance. The inserts on the dashboard are wooden, and a glossy surface around the air conditioner controls and chrome inserts beside the display screen give the new X1 a superior feel. The X1 facelift also adds an electro-mechanically operated power steering.

The X1 has a longitudinal setup, meaning that the transmission tunnel occupies a portion of the cabin, resulting in the seats being much lower and close to the ground. The electric seats have an advanced memory function, with the rear seats having adjustable recline. However, the middle rear seat is a tad uncomfortable, as it is raised in the middle.

The facelift offers a navigation system which includes an 8.8 inch display screen, and also an integrated hard disk for audio files and maps. You can also access your Twitter and Facebook accounts. The BMW X1 facelift comes with a single engine option for all its variants – a 2 liter turbo diesel engine. It is designed to produce 184 horses of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. This increase in power means that the X1 reaches 100 kmph in a matter of 8.25 seconds. Compared to the previous X1, that is a total 1.2 seconds quicker. The engine has a ZF 8 speed auto gearbox, a step-up from the 6 speed gearbox of the earlier model. Peak torque is accessible from 1750 rpm, meaning that the motor can pull effortlessly, and low engine speed acceleration is linear. The 8 speed auto works very well, and has a very quick response.

A slight downside is that the X1 facelift’s motor is pretty audible when under strong acceleration, and when idle. Only while cruising does the sound of the engine die down to a low hum.

Handling and Safety

The new electro-mechanical steering wheel is a brilliant addition to the X1 facelift, as it is very responsive, and capable of giving very accurate feedback even at high speeds. This greatly aids the driver, and makes for a very smooth driving experience.

However, the ride quality for rear passengers has been compromised. It has a soft rear-suspension structure, and though it is mostly absorbent, it is not very smooth on uneven surfaces.

The safety system on the BMW X1 facelift is top-notch, though. There is an advanced Anti-lock Braking System as well as a Cornering Brake Control System. Both head and side airbags have been provided for the driver and front passenger, and rear passengers have head airbags. Side impact protection has been given for both front and rear passengers. All the seats have three point seat belts, including pyrotechnic belt tensioners and belt force limiters at the front.

The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system includes a Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) system. Electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensors have also been added.

Verdict

This four door SUV from BMW has done well to rectify the issues its earlier model has posed. The BMW X1 facelift has addressed comprehensively all the problems of the X1 to make the Facelift a more successful model in terms of power, styling and equipment.
At its price range, it is an SUV that is worth buying, but only after all options in this particular price range have been looked at. Currently, in India, the Audi Q3 is the only good rival and worthy competitor for the BMW X1 facelift.
