We tell you about the top five fuel efficient petrol SUVs available in India. 

We only judge the petrol SUVs available in the segment as it is only the Hyundai Creta & the Kia Seltos being offered with diesel engines. 

5. Starting with the fifth position, the Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos is offered with two petrol engines, a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.4L turbocharged engine paired to a 7-Speed DCT. 

The turbocharged engine delivers an efficiency of 16.3 Km/l, whereas the naturally aspirated engine delivers 16.6 Km/l.

FE- 16.3 Km/l
Power: 1.4L Turbo – 140 HP
FE- 16.6 Km/l

4. Up next at the fourth position is the sibling to the Seltos, the Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta is offered with the same engine options, but it delivers a slightly better fuel efficiency than its sibling. The turbocharged engine delivers 16.8 Km/l whereas the naturally aspirated engine delivers 16.85 Km/l. 

Keeping it fare to the rivals, we have not ranked the diesel Creta or the Seltos in this list, but just for your information, both the SUVs deliver an efficiency upwards of 20 Km/l.

3. The third position is reserved for the Skoda Kushaq

The Skoda Kushaq is offered with two turbocharged petrol engines, a 1.0L & a 1.5L TSi engine. The 1.5L engine is paired to a dual-clutch transmission, whereas the smaller engine gets a torque converter automatic and a manual gearbox. 

The 1.0L TSi delivers fuel efficiency of 16.8 Km/l, whereas the much bigger 1.5L engine develops 17.83 Km/l.

Power: 1.5L TSi – 148 HP

2. Just like the Koreans, the Germans too have a duo and the second position is occupied by the VW Taigun

With the same powertrains, the Volkswagen Taigun can extract a slightly better fuel efficiency of 18.18 Km/l with the 1.5L TSi and 18.23 Km/l with the 1.0L TSi.

1. By now you would have guessed the SUV topping this list, it is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

With its 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, the Brezza delivers 17.03 Km/l with the manual and 18.76 Km/l with the automatic gearbox. 

Like always, the Suzuki tops the list, be it sales or fuel-efficiency.
