2013 Ford Fiesta St revealed

With its sporty guise and EcoBoost engine, Ford redefines hatches with the unveiling of the 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. The hatchback will make its debut at 2012 Geneva Motor Show starting today.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta ST has its platform at Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany. Borrowing the styling from the concept version, this production hatch has an aggressive body kit with new bumpers, a trapezoidal grille, a large rear diffuser and a tailgate-mounted spoiler (almost).

The sporty appeal follows on the inside, with the 2013 Ford Fiesta ST featuring Recaro sport seats, Faux carbon fiber trim and alloy pedals. It also has a distinct sporty steering wheel, a SYNC infotainment system and something called as “sound symposer”, which smoothes out the engine noise to give a refined and tuned sound from under the bonnet.

Under the hood is of course, the 1.6-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that is tuned for maximum performance. It delivers 178 hp which is a remarkable figure looking at the size of the engine. Moreover, its torque figure sits at 240 Nm, propelling the hatch from dead to 100 kmph in under 7 seconds, and the hatch is able to hit speeds up to 220 kmph. With these spectacular figures, the EcoBoost engine also has a reduced CO2 emission of up to 20 per cent.

Driving aids includes an Electronic Power Steering system, revised suspensions with new front knuckles and redesigned shocks reducing its ride height by 15mm. Safety features include an upgraded braking system, enhanced torque vectoring control  and a three-stage electronic stability control system.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta ST will be coming in Europe by 2013, however there is no details of it making it the Indian market. We’ll bring you more on this from the Geneva Motor Show.
