Maruti Swift Facelift Details Revealed

Likewise to the attitude of Maruti, mostly unchanged, new Swift is designed only to keep a constant touch with Indians where nothing out-of-the-box offered. Expected to launch soon, bookings already commenced, and some dealers too received their display units, one of our sources managed to pounce on the details of this most selling hatchback of the nation, which isn’t widely different than the current version yet.

Talking about technical first, petrol engine is detuned slightly over the power figures for better fuel-efficiency. In the specific note, new Swift will produce 83.1bhp (as compared to 85.8bhp) which in return will deliver enhanced fuel-economy of 20.4kmpl (instead of 18.6 kmpl) as per ARAI. The gasoline motor under the hoods will be same – 1.2-litre aluminum built K-Series engine.

On the diesel side, Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multijet engine will continue to produce the same power output, but tweaked ECU and reduced friction will bring better numbers to the board of fuel-efficient buyers. Probably, its kilometer per litre figure will now be of 25.2kmpl rather than 22.9kmpl of earlier version (as per ARAI).

Coming to cosmetics, there aren’t many significant changes over the body, except for front bumper that houses comparatively larger air dam and silver accents for fog-lamp cluster (no daytime running lights offered), new honeycomb grille, and fresh set of alloys (for top-end trim) & wheel-caps (for base and mid trims).

In the trim-line, Maruti has added a couple of new options to the list: LXi+ and LDi+ that comes inclusive of front power windows and keyless entry.

LXi and LDi now get adjustable rear headrests and 60:40 split seat at the back.

The most preferable VXi and VDi trims get audio player, electronically operational ORVMs, and ABS (for VDi only).

The top of line ZXi and ZDi trims additionally gets keyless entry and exit, with push button start, Bluetooth for audio player, and usable rear parking sensors.

Hence, pricing also meant to be changed, which would definitely be considered at the time of launch.

Till then, Maruti also has a new Alto K10 to go with on-floor.
