Mercedes Benz teases GLA in the sketch

GLA is said to be the immediate need of Mercedes Benz to be planted in its repertoire as soon as possible. Made debut at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, it has to do a lot with the competition against the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. The more of down the line products from the end of Mercedes Benz means, the carmaker wants to target the mass market very aggressively.

Thought to be nearing the dead end of debut, MB had released a series of teaser which portrays the upcoming crossover in the sketch form. In addition to the couple of sketches, that shows the front as well as the back of GLA, Stuttgart-based carmaker has also lend us an off-road image a week before to make the excitement keep-on ticking momentum for the further ones, which we had been bestowed with it yesterday evening.

As per to our observations on the image sketched image of the GLA, and also to that of the Shanghai debuted model, we can safely convey upcoming crossover of the Mercedes Benz is actually an A Class on the beefy body structure which may have been planted by using steroids. The platform to underpin it will also be that same A Class’ MFA platform, but the styling cues will be taken from that of the elder sibling GLK.

Terming specifications as per to that of the platform, it is revealed height of the GLA concept to be of 1,500mm, length to be measuring at 4,440mm, while the width to draw its expansiveness with the 1,800mm figure.  Wheelbase is said to be of 2,700mm, accompanied by the decent boot space of 500 litres, which feels subtle for an aspiring compact SUV.

However, as we said the GLA will borrow cues from the A Class on most of its underpinning, engine specifications may also remain almost similar to that of the hatchback sibling. 4Matic all wheel drive system to be a tailor made option for this Merc being based on the new MFA platform.
