Renault Star Guild Awards every year marks the forthcoming launches of Renault. Last year, it was Fluence and Koleos facelift. Both of them were soon launched after appearing at the said event of Indian television.

Now, for 2015, the star of Renault is none other than the ‘Lodgy’ MPV. Unveiled at the 2015 Star Guild Awards in Mumbai, it awed everyone at the venue. And specifically it was the Lodgy ‘Stepway’, which can be basically understand as the “Cross” version of standard car.

Being suited to the segment it is catered to, an aluminum skid plate makes the first flash, whereas those cladding on the sides comes after.

The car that is bound to come to India was seen sporting chromed front grille, new chin, and fresh set of tail lamps. Moving inside, with a wheelbase of – 2810mm wheelbase it possess space like a true MPV and had borrowed cues like infotainment system, instrument cluster, steering-wheel, gear-lever, control stalks and air-con switches from Duster. Even the engine deployed underneath is of Duster – 1.5-litre K9k diesel producing power in two states of tune: 108bhp and 85bhp.

However, we are still on doubtful stark of its success rate, because the segment in India with regards to MPV is already claustrophobic, where Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio had enough of the presence, and if not then Toyota Innova is another excellent product to see at. Even the Chevrolet Enjoy, Nissan Evalia Ashok Leyland Stile and such are at the bottom of the line. It’s the pricing that will slot the differentiation for Renault Lodgy Stepway; will be interesting to wait until March 2015 and see it live when launched.
