Few days back we had reported that Tata Motors is providing heavy discounts on its HCV range, and now the news has arrived that Tata has also extended the duration of the warranty period. The warranty period has now been doubled from two to four years and Tata Motors is the first to take the initiative. The new warranty period is applicable on the range of vehicles weighing 25 tonnes GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) and above, that too which are being sold post 6th January 2013. The product line in that range includes every model of tractor trailers, multi-axle trucks & tippers. The four year warranty covers main driveline of the vehicle i.e. engine, gearbox and rear axle (as standard). Warranty on other components is increased from 18 to 24 months.

Mr. Ravi Pisharody, Exec. Director for Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, is very much excited about the new warranty service. He said, “For close to 60 years now, Tata Motors has been a step ahead in offering new technologies, products and value added services. The 4-year warranty is another industry first, in our pursuit of partnering the customer through the lifecycle of the product.” He also added that this is the perfect New Year gift to customers.

Tata HCVs now with four years warranty

Tata is the biggest giant of the Indian Automobile Industry generating revenue of ($ 32.5 billion). It is also said that Tata owns more than 60% of market share in the HCV segment. Out of total three, every two model of tractor trailers, multi-axle trucks and tippers of 25 tonne GVW is sold by Tata Motors.

The 4-year warranty concept is based on a detailed research carried out on 15 lakh trucks and tippers in the country which wears a TATA tag and operates in tough and harsh terrains bearing heavy loads on their back.

‘Tata Alert’ Service is an add-on to the 4-year warranty program. It is a highway assistance program designed for heavy and medium commercial vehicle which is made available across all the national highways of India.  A vast spread network of 1,300 Tata service centers and dealership across the nation has helped a lot in making this service to become functional. One can say that, we can spot a Tata touch point after every 50 km on all the national and other highways.

Under this program, drivers will receive on-site breakdown assistance within four hours from the call made to helpline (1800-209-7979), as the helpline is available round the clock. ‘Tata Alert’ service will make sure that vehicle is back on the road within 48 hours from the time restoration work started. In case of major breakdown, ‘Tata Alert’ service will also provide transport service for perishable goods.

Thus, we can say that Tata is not only providing a well-engineered product but a well-engineered service as well. This ideology made Tata the 4th largest bus and truck maker in the world. And that’s why you can spot its HCV in major markets of the world like Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and South America.

There are also speculations about the next counter move of major competitors such as Ashok Leyland and Eicher Motors.
